Ok, Ok, OKeeeeeeeey! This was a spur of the moment, sheer curiosity buy. This show has cheesy animation and a sub par plot. But hey, like I just mentioned I was curious, a Dragon named CHIBI! I just like to say that! chibi, chibi, chibi, chibi! hee hee. Anywho, I could probably see this one picked up by the WB or some station to fill space Saturday morning. At least the dragons weren't Disneyized into talking and not Pokemoned into squeeling their species over and over. This is kinda like Yu-gi-oh (don't ask) in that everything revovles around a game. This I really don't get is that how could anyone be so, soo serious about a game. Life and death, the future of the world hangs in the balance and how do we solve the problem? How do we conquer the evil? WE CHALLENGE EVIL INCARNATE TO A GAME!! Ook. my little rant. Well, a good thing about Dragon Drive is the music, the opening sequence and especially the voice cast. Many of them come from Inuyasha. Chibi - Tabitha St. Germain (Inuyasha, Zoids: Fuzors, Hamtaro), Reiji Ozora - Braid Swaile (Inuyasha, Zoids, Junkers Come Here, Ranma 1/2), Maiko Yukino - Brittney Irvine (Inuyasha, The SoulTaker), Sayaka Towa - Willow Johnson (Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Escaflowne), Daisuke Hagiwara - Sam Vincent (Zoids: Fuzors, Cardcaptors, Hamtaro, Inuyasha). Not bad, Not Bad. Perhaps I should have started with this but the story is about Reiji (Rei) Ozora who always gives up on everything. Like why start anything if you're gonna suck at it and make a fool of yourself? (Oh! He also has weird dreams, du du duuuuuu) He then has this peppy friend, Maiko, who is determined to get him off his ass and into something so he doesn't waste his life away. So she introduces him to a new fad game of virtual reality called Dragon Drive. He is then partnered with the wussiest dragon ever created. But when he enters the game and the chips are down, he's cornored and desparate blah, blah, blah, his dragon becomes super powered and blasts his rivals away. Kinda like Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho (very loosely, mind you). Every other time Rei loses and fails miserably. So basically it's Rei trying to overcome all the top players while the people who run this shindig are keeping tabs on Rei and his "mysterious" ability with his dragon. It's kid friendly and on the lower end of the anime pricing spectrum. Well have fun!
